How do I prevent an upright piano fallboard from falling on playing fingers?

I have small kids with access to an upright piano with a fallboard that does not have the slow fall feature. Is there an easy way to prevent the fallboard from falling on their fingers while they’re playing the piano?

how about a piece of foam glued to the underside of the fallboard, if it falls the foam will hit the keys & hold it up

it will only fall if they touch it.dont touch.jamb it with a wood screw.it may mark the piano.but it will do the job.a wood shim will also work.good luck.

add two pieces of self sticking Velcro one long piece on the drop board and one piece on the side of the piano.
For safety sake do this on both sides of the drop board.
unfasten the velcro when you want to cover the keys.
