How to use fingers to play a piano song?

When I took a basic piano class, my book had fingers on some notes (especially in some hard notes or transition notes). So I know what finger I need to use on those notes. When I chose to play a new sheet piano, the sheet doesnot have finger notes on some notes. So I have no idea what finger do I need to use on those notes. So what should I do?

Go with your instinct. If you think it’s right roll with it.If they are fast sixteenth notes try and cross your fingers.

just try to play it slowly and if you come across hard or transition notes, figure out which finger would make the most fluid motion, or what would be the easiest for you
